Project
COREu | Mirai for the COREu EU project
Mirai’s role in the EU project COREu.
The COREU EU project
COREu is the largest research and innovation project in carbon capture and storage (CCS) funded by a European programme involving more than 40 international partners.
The project aims to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and develop new demonstration projects linking CO2 sources with potential storage sites.
The role of Mirai
Mirai was actively involved in the COREu project, working on the branding, design and development of the website and C4Learn learning platform.
Branding and coordinated image
The first activity on which the Mirai team focused was the definition of the project’s branding, going to design the logo, the color palette and the coordinated image.
Logo
Combining the keywords that characterize the project "Carbon capture, road and nature", the concept of the project was created, from which subsequently the logo was born depicting precisely a leaf with a road replacing its veins.
The logo has been created in both positive and negative versions so that it can be adapted to the various interface backgrounds.
Color palette
The color palette that would guide the whole project was subsequently established, selecting three main colours:
- Green: is the dominant color of the project as it is an explicit reference to nature and sustainability;
- Blue: this colour refers to the sea waters on which some of the CO2 transport takes place and to the seabed where the storage takes place;
- Light grey: it was chosen as a neutral background color to harmonize the design.
Coordinated image
The coordinated image was then created, and the templates for the project documents (docx and pptx), the poster and the presentation flyer were created with the aim of publicising COREu’s objectives and activities.
Key visual
The design and implementation of the key visuals, or reference images of the project, was an integral part of the coordinated image.
The concepts of transport of CO2 both by road and sea, combined with storage and attention to the environment have been visually implemented in images used to convey the visual communication of the project.
Website design and development activities
The next activity was the design and development of the COREu website.
Following the guidelines provided by the brand identity and the specific needs of European projects, the following website pages have been developed:
- Homepage: this page briefly introduces the project highlighting the impacts, objectives and latest news;
- About - Description of the project: this page describes the project, setting out its context and its vision and mission;
- About - Partners: this page lists all the project partners; each has its own logo and link to the website;
- Pilots: on this page the two project pilots are shown; for each one there is a detail page in which they are more in depth;
- Documents: on this page you can consult and download project documents;
- News: this page contains the latest news about the project or its events;
- Contact: on this page you can contact the project’s contacts by filling in the contact form or through, email or social channels (LinkedIn and X);
- Exploitation Toolbox: This section provides direct links to C4L, Innovation Sprint and Metaverse.
Design and development activities of the C4Learn platform
The third activity that interested the Mirai team was the design and development of the C4Learn platform.
It is a Learning Management System (LMS), designed for the transfer of knowledge in terms of co-learning, open innovation, open science and knowledge sharing between the various partners.
The latter, in fact, through C4Learn have the possibility to create online courses and Learning Nuggets, short extracts of knowledge useful for teaching complex concepts. The platform provides different models of Learning Nuggets: once you have chosen the most suitable one for explaining your topic, you just need to fill in the predefined fields to directly generate the explanatory page of the topic.
C4Learn is ideal for training within projects involving many partners from different countries as it has no limits: users can access the content whenever they want and on any device they wish.
